STINGER EXO Synthetic Underlayment Accepted by the Texas Department of Insurance

October 20, 2022

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — National Nail's STINGER®, a leading roofing brand offering a superior moisture defense system of underlayment, cap fasteners, and the tools to lay them down, announces that its STINGER EXO Synthetic Underlayment was recently listed as an acceptable alternative to roofing underlayment by the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). Specified in Chapter 15 of the International Building Code (IBC) and Chapter 9 of the International Residential Code (IRC), STINGER EXO25-SB, EXO35 and EXO50 meet evaluation standards of ESR 3905 and CCRR 0330 for roofing underlayment, meeting TDI standards.

"The TDI approval of STINGER EXO Synthetic Underlayment provides roofers across the state of Texas with an approved alternative to traditional ASTM D226 standard roofing underlayments,” said Zach Huth, national sales Manager, STINGER. “Our EXO Synthetic Underlayment features advanced moisture management and a faster, safer roof installation.”

STINGER EXO Underlayment is a UV-resistant synthetic underlayment that can be exposed to the elements for up to six months. Manufactured with 100% synthetic woven fabric, EXO delivers high tear strength and proprietary non-skid additives for enhanced slip resistance for roofer safety. Featuring a preprinted nailing pattern and overlap lines to speed underlayment installations, EXO helps roofing crews complete more jobs in less time.

For the best installation experience, STINGER recommends installation with STINGER cap tools and cap fasteners, like its NailPac® collated cap nails, which recently received Florida Product Approval (FL35349) under the Florida (DBPR) Department of Business & Professional Regulation and meets the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety's (IBHS®) FORTIFIED Roof™ program standards.

STINGER EXO Underlayment features 25, 35 and 50 year warranties. Learn more about STINGER EXO Synthetic Underlayment acceptance by the Texas Department of Insurance at tdi.texas.gov/wind/documents/listunderlaymentproducts.pdf.
