As the war between Russia and Ukraine intensifies, the U.S. has called for a ban on imported Russian oil, causing pain points for contractors beyond the gas pump.

“The war is affecting the price of oil and gas, but one of the things that contractors often forget is the amount of petroleum-based products that are in roofing,” said Trent Cotney, general counsel for the National Roofing Contractors Association.

In an industry already feeling the sting from the supply chain crisis and a shortage in truck drivers, things may get worse before they get better.
