MCKINNEY, Texas — SRS Distribution Inc. announced the winners of the first annual Premios Éxito (Contractor Success Awards) at the International Roofing Expo in New Orleans, an initiative launched to recognize the talent and contributions of Latino contractors in the United States.

"We are honored to have been the driving force behind this initiative to celebrate Latino contractors, recognizing their tremendous contributions and their journey to success. Our SRS Distribution for Latinos program will continue to support these entrepreneurs, offering the tools, resources and training needed to transform their business," said Julissa Chavez, Latino sales and marketing program manager.

The awards were presented during the cocktail hour at the Alluvial Plaza in New Orleans on Feb. 1. Nominees were submitted by team members from 361 locations across 44 states.

The winner of the Contractor of the Year award was Century Roofing Company of Coralville, Iowa. The owners, Olvin Lanza and Jessica Lopez, are not only customers, but valued friends of the staff at all SRS branches across the state. Their business grew exponentially through their hard work and tireless effort to meet the needs of every member of the community. Century Roofing Company continues to expand its business with integrity and an extraordinarily strong partnership with SRS Distribution/Gannon Roofing Supply.

In the Emerging Contractor category, the winner was Michael Rivas of Mufasa Contractors of Long Island, N.Y., nominated by National Building Supply. An up-and-coming contractor and Latino entrepreneur, Rivas is dedicated to growing sustainably and ensuring his success encompasses his community and family. Rivas is building upon a long family history in construction and a love for architecture with a goal of serving his customers with integrity and high quality.

Nominated by Willoughby Supply, the Community Hero award was won by Carlos Sanchez of Continental Roof Company. Sanchez started Continental Roof Company to create financial stability for his family and to support his community. A large focus for Sanchez and his company is giving back to local charities such as The Dragonfly Foundation, Mentoring Partners, Edge Teen Center, Wounded Warrior, and various homeless shelters.

SRS Distribution is honored to recognize these companies and entrepreneurs that are inspiring examples not only for the Latino community but the roofing industry at large.
