“NWiR Day is an event designed to bring together the many amazing women within the roofing industry,” said Anna Anderson, CEO of Art Unlimited and a member of NWiR’s executive committee. “Together we will learn about topics specific to women, discover technical skills, recruitment opportunities, and ways to enhance our personal and professional lives. In preparation for NWiR Day, the NWiR Mentoring Committee continued the N.E.W.S. (Network of Educating Women Scholarship) Conference Attendee Program. With over 20 applicants, three women have been selected to receive a NWiR mentor, sponsored travel expenses, and registration fees to NWiR Day and the IRE.

“We are thrilled with the caliber of these roofing contractors who are also first-time attendees to NWiR Day and the IRE. We’ll be announcing them soon and can’t wait to share them with our industry," said Kelley Caron, channel manager, OMG; and member of the NWiR Board of Directors and chair of the mentoring committee.

Attendees can participate in sessions covering a wide range of topics, including communications, mentoring, recruitment, and career development. Hands-on demonstrations are also available alongside plenty of networking opportunities, from Q&A sessions to roundtables.

"It's been great, a lot of educational information that I believe is going to help me as a woman do better in the industry," said Xochitl Arango, owner of The Roofing Lady, during the third annual NWiR Day.

A highlight of the NWiR Day program is the announcement of the award winners. NWiR's WORLD Veteran Award honors roofing professionals who have exhibited outstanding commitment and leadership in the roofing industry and to NWiR; and the WORLD Rising Star Award is to recognize the achievements of emerging talent in the roofing industry and NWiR who represent the next generation of leaders.

“We are very excited about our registration numbers so far — they’ve exceeded our initial projections — and hope to see many of our NWiR Founding Members as well as new members in August in Las Vegas,” said Ellen Thorp, NWiR executive director.

The fun doesn’t stop when the sessions end. The day includes a light breakfast, lunch, snacks and evening activity. As of publication, the NWiR is providing a swag bag of gifts from the event’s sponsors to the first 195 attendees.
