Roofing Industry Saddened by the Loss of Vincent Abbondanza

April 29, 2021

Vincent Abbondanza, who worked for OMG Roofing Products for the past 37 years, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021 at the age of 63.

In addition to his career on OMG Roofing's Roofing Products Sales and Marketing team, Abbondanza — also known as Vinny — served as an assistant scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 114 and enjoyed quad riding trips with his friends.

"All of us at Roofing Contractor are saddened by the loss of Vinny. He was always smiling and was a truly wonderful man. Our heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers go to his family," said RC Publisher Jill Bloom.

According to his obituary, Abbondanza was born in Pontecorvo, Italy on April 13, 1958, and was the son of the late Luigi and Tomassina (D’Amata) Abbondanza. He is fondly remembered for how many lives he touched, though his family was his first priority. He enjoyed vacations to Disney World and trips to the beach with his family, and when he was out and about, he never met a stranger, as everyone became a friend.

Along with his parents, Abbondanza was predeceased by his brothers Giovanni and Giuseppe Abbondanza. He leaves his loving wife of 38 years, Susan (Iannicelli) Abbondanza; his children Gianna and her husband Michael, Andreana, Christina and her husband Benjamin, Gabriella and her husband Andrew and Domenic; his grandchildren Brynley and Liliana; his sisters Benedetta D’Amata and her husband Gabriele and Lucrezia Abbondanza and her husband Giuseppe; his sisters-in-law Thomasina and Rosa Abbondanza, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends were invited to gather on April 28 at Southwick Forastiere Funeral & Cremation. Funeral services will be held April 29.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Abbondanza's memory may be made to Baystate Children’s Hospital, 759 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
