HERNDON, Va. – Beacon Roofing Supply has announced the launch of its first annual Beacon of Hope contest to serve those who served their country.

Five winners selected from around the country will receive a new roof courtesy of Beacon. The contest is open to all military veterans who received honorable or general discharges.

“The Beacon of Hope contest is one way we can give back to the men and women who have given so much to our country,” said Eric Swank, Beacon’s Chief Operating Officer. “It is an honor and privilege to provide a safe roof that they can be proud of and that will protect their family and their belongings.”

Members of the public can nominate a deserving U.S. veteran at http://go.becn.com/beaconofhope or submit an email to beaconofhope@becn.com. Nominations will be accepted until Sept. 20, 2019. To qualify, submissions must include a photo and a short bio of the veteran that includes their military branch, years of service and why the nominee is deserving of a new roof.

Beacon will announce 10 finalists in September, and the public will have an opportunity to vote for their favorite finalists. The winners and runners-up will be announced on Veterans Day.

The contest is just one example of how the roofing industry gives back to military veterans. In 2018, multiple roofing contractors supported veterans with roof repairs, new roofs and air-conditioners.
