W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. — Dr. Michael J Noone, retired vice president of CertainTeed Corporation, in Malvern, Pa. has received the prestigious William C. Cullen Award from ASTM International’s committee on roofing and waterproofing.

The committee honored Dr. Noone for his dedication and contributions to the roofing and waterproofing industry, particularly in the asphalt shingle segment. He first contributed to ASTM in an STP in 1968, and has been a member of ASTM International committee D08 since 1979 where he served as chairman of subcommittee D08.02 on steep roofing products and assemblies from 1992 to 2017. He has received many society and committee awards, including the Award of Merit in 1997.

Noone received a bachelor’s degree in ceramics from the University of Leeds, in England, United Kingdom, in 1963, and received his Ph.D. in ceramics and material science in 1967. Aside from ASTM, Noone is a member of the British Ceramic Society, Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry, American Ceramic Society, American Society for Quality Control, and the Canadian Standards Association
