The 3M Industrial Mineral Products Division, a supplier of roofing granules to asphalt shingle manufacturers, announced that Atlas Roofing Corporation is implementing a major marketing program for the Scotchgard Algae Resistant Roofing System beginning June 2011.

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The 3M Industrial Mineral Products Division, a supplier of roofing granules to asphalt shingle manufacturers, announced that Atlas Roofing Corporation is implementing a major marketing program for the Scotchgard Algae Resistant Roofing System beginning June 2011.

“The Scotchgard Algae Resistant Roofing System is the single most effective algae solution available and uses 3M copper roofing granules,” said Tim Worms, National Accounts and Marketing Manager, at the 3M Industrial Mineral Products Division.

3M Innovation utilized the copper granule as the technical solution to the roof algae problem. “When the optimum blend of copper-fortified granules in the Scotchgard Algae Resistant Roofing System is uniformly distributed across the surface of quality asphalt shingles in precise combination with standard colored granules, you’re assured of built-in long-term algae and stain resistance,” Worms said.

Atlas Roofing Corporation is committing to the Scotchgard System because it represents a meaningful and differentiating competitive marketing and sales advantage throughout its distribution area. Reflecting on the advantages to the customer, Kirk Villar, Vice President Residential Sales and Marketing at Atlas Roofing Corporation, said Scotchgard means protection and is a well-known consumer brand with icon status.

“Combining with the positive equity in the Atlas brand, Scotchgard is the homeowners’ assurance that the beauty of their roofs will be oblivious to the airborne algae that discolor shingles and increase maintenance costs,” Villar said.

And a roof that retains its natural beauty and performance helps increase a home’s overall value, Villar said.

The Scotchgard Algae Resistant Roofing System is a key example of how the 3M continuing advances in granule technology drive exacting standards for longevity, durability, color-fastness, algae resistance and reflectivity which pay off for 3M customers in quality and performance.
