JOPLIN, Mo. – The beauty of a slate roof is now eligible for federal energy efficiency tax credits through one of TAMKO Building Products’ Lamarite Slate composite shingles “cool colors.”

One of TAMKO’s cool colors, Terra Cotta, was just named an ENERGY STAR-qualified product, making it potentially eligible for up to $1,500 of American Reinvestment & Recovery Act (ARRA) federal tax credits. Before purchasing ENERGY STAR products or other material, contact your tax professional for complete details and to see if you qualify. Last year, TAMKO made its popular Lamarite Slate composite shingles available in “cool colors” of Terra Cotta, Pale Olive, Cool Grey, Natural Sand and Almond Shell. All of the colors are rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC).

“With the growing trend toward energy efficient products, cool product options are important,” said Stephen McNally, vice president of sales/marketing. “Lamarite Slate Cool Colors combine beautiful aesthetics with impressive performance and energy efficiency, which is the total package in roofing product options.”

To provide information on TAMKO’s ENERGY STAR-qualified products to those customers interested in applying for the tax credits, TAMKO recently added an “ARRA Tax Credits” link to the bottom of its website.

All of TAMKO’s Lamarite Slate Composite Shingle Cool Colors meet or exceed the Energy Star Program Requirements for 25 percent solar reflectivity, similar to TAMKO’s MetalWorks Cool Color Steel Shingles.

Lamarite Slate Cool Color Shingles are available by special order in 5-, 7- and 12-inch widths and are listed for UL Class A fire resistance, Class 4 impact resistance and come with a 50-year limited warranty. Lamarite Slate Cool Color Shingles are also available in Starter and Hip and Ridge. Lamarite Slate is an attractive, durable alternative to slate roofing products and is ideal for residential and commercial roofing applications. For more information, visit www.tamko.com.
