CertainTeed Corp., Valley Forge, Pa., has begun a major multi-million dollar expansion of its Shreveport, La., roofing facility.

Prompted by an increasing demand for laminated shingles in the South Central region of the United States, CertainTeed Corp., Valley Forge, Pa., has begun a major multi-million dollar expansion of its Shreveport, La., roofing facility to install equipment to produce these shingles. In addition to its current three-tab shingle, low-slope roofing and felt underlayment production, the plant will now manufacture the Landmark Series line of laminated shingles. Landmark production is expected to kick-off late next year.

“Laminated shingles are the fastest growing product segment in the roofing industry,” says Kermit Stahl, CertainTeed’s vice president of asphalt shingle manufacturing and technology. “Over 50 percent of all shingles sold this year will be laminates and the number is rising. The decision to install a laminator at our Shreveport location is in direct response to growing customer confidence in CertainTeed and its products,” Stahl says.
