The Strober Organization announced that it has completed the acquisition of 26 commodity-focused locations operating as The Contractor Yard.

The Strober Organization, Brooklyn, N.Y., a supplier of building materials to professional builders and contractors in the Northeastern and Mid-Atlantic United States, announced that it has completed the acquisition of 26 commodity-focused locations operating as The Contractor Yard, a division of the Lowe's Corp. As a result of the acquisition, Strober will now become the seventh largest dealer servicing the professional marketplace in the United States. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

The combined company's trading area will include 71 locations extending along the eastern seaboard from Connecticut to Florida and as far west as Mississippi and Ohio. The Strober Organization, founded in 1912, is a privately held company whose operations prior to the Contactor Yard acquisition included 45 locations in seven states (New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and Virginia). With a regional footprint that is complementary to Strober's, The Contractor Yard has 26 branches in nine states (North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, Ohio, Mississippi and Georgia). The headquarters for The Contractor Yard has been established in Charlotte, N.C.
