Flir Systems, North Billerica, Mass., is offering a series of free, regional “InfraForum” seminars geared toward existing and potential thermography users. The seminars focus on the benefits of thermal-imaging measurement systems in a variety of applications, including building diagnostics and roof moisture detection.

About 45 people recently attended the InfraForum in Sterling Heights, Mich., including members of the roofing industry. Mike Schneider, Michigan district sales manager for Flir, explained that new products from the company are geared toward the roofing industry. The E-Series cameras, which resemble a flashlight in appearance, weigh only 1.5 pounds and feature a built-in color display, long-life battery, temperature measurement and image storage capabilities. They also enable images to be downloaded to a computer. The new cameras are small enough to wear on a belt in the same way electricians now carry small voltage and amp meters.

“A roofing survey is very easy to do, but most roofers don’t know about it,” says Schneider. “Roofing offers the single most profitable application of infrared technology.” For information on upcoming seminars, call 800.GO.INFRA.
