Home Genius Exteriors expanded its Home Genius Cares initiative through a pair of charitable events supporting veterans, military families and families with children receiving medical care.
On Aug. 6, more than 800 Home Genius Exteriors employees gathered at The Anthem in Washington, D.C., for the company's Q4 Launch 2026 national conference, where employees participated in service projects benefiting military personnel and families staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Employees wrote more than 2,500 handwritten letters of appreciation for veterans and active-duty service members and assembled more than 325 New Family Care Kits for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in the Greater Washington, D.C., area.
During the conference, Home Genius Exteriors also presented $25,000 in donations to both the Gary Sinise Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities. The company worked with Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Gary Sinise Foundation and the Owens Corning Foundation on the initiative.
“Home Genius Cares started with a simple idea: if we have the ability to help, we should,” said Jeff Gunhus, co-founder and CEO of Home Genius Exteriors. “Our Geniuses live and work in these communities, and they continue to show up with their time, their hands, and their hearts. Home Genius Cares is how we turn ‘people first’ from something we say into something we do.”
The company's charitable work continued Aug. 7-9 at the 2026 Checking For Charity hockey tournament in Voorhees, N.J., where a Home Genius Exteriors team finished second while raising more than $2,500 for Ronald McDonald House Southern New Jersey.
Checking For Charity combines competitive hockey with fundraising, with participating teams representing charitable organizations. The Home Genius Exteriors team wore custom jerseys supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities, which were later raffled to generate additional donations.
According to the company, every $500 donated to Ronald McDonald House Southern New Jersey can help feed 26 families, meaning the $2,500 raised through the tournament could help provide meals for more than 130 families.
Jeff Scully, regional director for Home Genius Exteriors, helped organize the company's participation in the tournament. Team members also connected with Katherine Amenta, director of development at Ronald McDonald House Southern New Jersey, to learn more about the families served by the organization.
“Second place on the ice was a great accomplishment, but the bigger win was knowing our team helped support families who need it,” said Austin Killian, co-founder and executive vice president of Home Genius Exteriors. “Through Home Genius Cares, we’re committed to supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities across the country and helping families stay close when their children need medical care.”
Home Genius Exteriors said its Home Genius Cares program has surpassed 3,205 volunteer hours and more than $1.15 million in local and national donations, with more than 2,200 employees participating in its community-service efforts.
