The homeowners selected a metal roofing system designed to replicate the rich appearance of slate. In addition to improving the home’s curb appeal, the new roof helps reflect heat during warmer weather and is expected to require less maintenance in the region’s rainy climate and heavily wooded surroundings.

Judges highlighted the project’s scale, complexity and craftsmanship. Mountaintop Metal completed the installation in three weeks despite a roof design featuring 76 facets and two rounded turrets. The flexibility of metal roofing allowed for the customized fabrication required throughout the project.

“This re-roofing project is beyond impressive and shows off the skills demonstrated by our outstanding member companies,” said MRA Executive Director Renee Ramey. “No doubt the new metal roof adds incredible style to this amazing home that will also stand the test of time.”

MRA is now accepting entries for its third-quarter 2026 Best Residential Metal Roofing Project competition. The program is open to homeowners, contractors, installers and manufacturers in the United States and Canada. Projects are judged on appearance, performance and originality or use of materials.
