GAF Expands Impact-Resistant Roofing Product Lineup

The company’s Class 4 products (the highest impact-resistance classification under UL 2218) include Timberline AS II, Timberline UHDZ and Grand Sequoia AS shingles.
With storm season approaching, GAF is highlighting impact-resistant roofing products designed to help protect homes from hail, high winds and heavy rain.
The company said several products in its lineup have earned strong impact-resistance ratings and may help support compliance with certain FORTIFIED Roof requirements.
According to GAF, products across the portfolio have been tested to UL 2218 Class 3 and Class 4 impact-resistance standards, underscoring the company’s broader focus on roof-system performance in severe weather.
GAF also said certain shingles earned “Good” ratings in 2025 impact-resistance testing from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety and may help meet requirements for the optional hail supplement under the FORTIFIED program.
The company’s Class 4 products — the highest impact-resistance classification under UL 2218 — include Timberline AS II, Timberline UHDZ and Grand Sequoia AS shingles. GAF said the shingles are designed to help withstand hail impacts while maintaining residential curb appeal.
Timberline HDZ shingles achieved a Class 3 rating, indicating strong impact resistance for residential roofing applications.
Additional Class 4-rated products include Seal-A-Ridge AS, TimberCrest and TimberTex ridge caps, which are designed to protect roof hips and ridges, as well as the Liberty System for low-slope applications such as porches and garages.
