TRUCE Software Rolls Out Driver Safety Platform Designed to Reduce Distraction
TRUCE Software system limits mobile device use while driving and gives fleets more control over risky behavior.

ENFORCE system running on a mobile device blocks apps, calls and notifications while the vehicle is in motion to prevent driver distraction.
Driver distraction is no longer just a safety concern—it’s a financial risk that roofing fleet operators and service industry business owners can’t ignore. According to OSHA, an on-the-job crash can cost anything between $16,500 and $74,000 if someone gets hurt.
That is part of the problem TRUCE Software says it’s trying to solve with the full rollout of its driver and fleet safety platform, announced in April during Distracted Driving Awareness Month.
Unlike traditional policies that rely on driver judgement, the system is designed to remove the opportunity for distraction altogether.
"15 years of TRUCE data shows drivers face a device distraction opportunity once every 10 miles behind the wheel," said David Coleman, head of commercial solutions at TRUCE Software. "For a typical employee, that's thousands of moments every year where you're asking them to choose the road over their phone. No policy survives those odds."
TRUCE Software focuses on prevention
TRUCE Software says the platform is built to prevent incidents before they happen, rather than respond after the fact.
The platform has six modules:
- ENFORCE - The platform’s core feature, described by the company as a “proven prevention control”.
It runs in the background on both iOS and Android devices, whether the phone is company-issued or a personal device. It blocks access to distracting apps, calls, texts and notifications while driving, instead of asking drivers to self-police.
It works automatically once the vehicle is in motion. There is no opt-in, override, or reliance on driver judgement.
2. EMPOWER- Drivers can see simple scores and feedback about their driving, like how safe or risky their behavior is over time. Drivers become more aware of their habits and can improve on their own.
3. ENGAGE - If a driver has a risky moment (like hard braking or speeding), the system helps supervisors talk with the driver about it using built‑in coaching tools.
4. ENGAGE PLUS - Once driving ends and work begins (like at a jobsite), this tool helps track where workers are and lets teams communicate or respond if something goes wrong.
5. DEFEND - Uses smart dash cameras (facing the road and the driver) to record incidents and give alerts if something dangerous happens. If there’s an accident or false claim, companies have clear evidence to protect drivers and reduce legal problems.
6. MAINTAIN - Monitors vehicle health, like engine issues or warning signs, and alerts teams before small problems turn into big repairs.
Each module is available independently or as part of a fully integrated platform.
TRUCE says companies using its ENFORCE feature have reported accident reductions of 40% to 47% within the first year.
