Studson Launches HighBar-Equipped SHK-1 Helmet
New Type II safety helmet introduces first-ever buckle-free HighBar system for improved fit, hygiene, and on-the-job comfort.

Studson has released the HighBar-Equipped SHK-1 Type II safety helmet, bringing the first buckle-free HighBar retention system to the industrial safety market.
The new model, now shipping, is designed for workers in construction, oil and gas, manufacturing, utilities, and industrial maintenance, offering a more hygienic, breathable, and intuitive alternative to traditional four-point chinstrap systems.
The HighBar system uses polymer strap arms that rotate up for storage and down for use, providing a secure fit with minimal skin contact. Workers can fine-tune the single strap using a one-handed twist dial—an advantage for those wearing heavy gloves. Studson CEO Ryan Barnes said the strong response to last year’s concept accelerated the path to broad availability, noting that the system helps ease industries into adopting chinstrap-equipped helmets while delivering advanced Type II protection.
HighBar General Manager Andrew Herrick added that the system is designed to increase the likelihood of proper helmet use without sacrificing comfort. The SHK-1 also includes Koroyd impact-absorbing polymer tubes and Twiceme Technology for optional emergency health data access. Workers can test the new design through Studson's augmented reality try-on tool.
