Harbor Freight Tools for Schools has awarded $1.5 million in cash prizes to 25 high school skilled trades instructors in fields like construction, welding, and automotive. 

The 59th annual National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta, hosted by SkillsUSA, featured over 6,600 high school and post-secondary students competing in 115 skilled trades including commercial roofing. 

The Roofing Alliance, the philanthropic arm of the National Roofing Contractors Association, announced a three-year, $150,000 grant to promote roofing in SkillsUSA, a national organization supporting technical career education. 

Lowe's Foundation awards a $1 million Gable Grant to SkillsUSA, supporting skilled trades recruitment and education; celebrates students with blue carpet events and promotions. 

For many reasons, the roofing industry has never actively participated in the SkillsUSA and CTE space. But all of that is in the midst of changing.
