The International Roofing Expo announced its 2024 expo date as Feb. 6-8, 2024, scheduled days before Las Vegas Super Bowl LVIII but with plenty of accommodations to host roofing professionals from around the country.

The Garland Company, Inc. has awarded its 2023 Garland Scholarship to Lily Hebert, the daughter of Garland employee-owner Jay Hebert. Hebert will attend Fordham University in New York City to study biology and pre-med. The scholarship amount was $12,800.

A roofing crew accidentally ignited a fire at a Milford, Mass., home on Monday. The fire caused extensive damage to the roof; the homeowner's son was taken to the hospital as a precaution but was expected to be released soon. 

The Chartered Institute of Building and the Institute of Roofing, two United Kingdom-based trade groups, are in talks to integrate; the CIOB is a large construction organization with a broad membership base, while the Institute of Roofing is a more specialized trade group. 

Mule-Hide Products Co. Inc. has promoted Derek Govan to West Region director. Govan has more than 25 years of experience in the roofing industry and has been with Mule-Hide since 2019.

Sales Alignment, a commercial roofing-focused company specializing in sales development and scaling operations, announced hiring Chris Key as a Service Operations expert.

ICP Group, a specialty chemical manufacturer of coatings, adhesives and sealants, announced plans to invest and upgrade its Long Beach, Calif. production facility.

SRS Distribution announced it would acquire Nevada-based Washoe Building Supply Inc., a residential and commercial roofing product distributor founded in 1981.

Amarillo, Texas-based Roof Spotters, Inc., has gifted $50,000 to the North Texas Panhandle town of Perryton after the community was devastated by an EF3 tornado that killed three and injured hundreds more.

Brown Roofing, a Connecticut-based roofing company, founded “Roofing for Humanity” and kicked off its philanthropic endeavor by giving a free reroof to the widow of the Fire Chief in nearby Newtown, Conn.
