In an interview conducted before the start of the Labor Day weekend, country music legend Tim McGraw told KCYE-FM radio’s Nancy Brooks that, when reflecting on nearly 30 years of success in the music business, he’s grateful to no longer worry about making ends meet.
“Growing up in Louisiana, I roofed a lot,” McGraw said. “When you’re having dinner or something, and somebody comes up for an autograph, and they always say, ‘Well, I bet you’re tired of doing this,’ or ‘I bet you hate doing this,’ or ‘This gets old.’
“And I’m like, ‘Look, it’s better than roofing.’ That’s usually my comeback,” he added, grinning.
The good-natured quip was part of an interview McGraw conducted with 107.9-FM Coyote Country to promote his latest album, “Standing Room Only.”
