Atlas Roofing has added a new, technology-driven offering to its premium Pinnacle product line of asphalt shingles manufactured to reflect the sun’s radiant heat away from the roof, reducing the amount of heat that enters the home.

Called Pinnacle Sun®, this new product features advanced technology that also “makes a dramatic statement.” Atlas listed several features included in its newest product, including HP42® technology, 3M-brand Scotchgard Protector, 3M smog-reducing granule technology, and 3M™ Cool Roof technology.

In a statement, the company says the reflectivity results of this new shingle decrease necessary cooling requirements and increase the home's overall energy efficiency. Because Pinnacle Sun provides cool roofing solutions that can lower indoor air temperatures, the company says it is especially effective in climates with year-round cooling needs.

The company touts its Pinnacle Sun shingle designed to be “…energy efficient, solar reflective and visually stunning with a color palette inspired by coastal regions. Pinnacle Sun shingles are produced to meet the Cool Roof Rating Council’s standards for their Solar Reflective Index (SRI) and may comply with city and state building codes for reflectivity,” the company statement noted.

Atlas states that its 3M smog-reducing granule technology is formulated with a photocatalytic coating activated by sunlight, transforming smog into water-soluble ions that help improve air quality. “With 3M Smog-reducing granules, an average-sized roof has the smog-fighting capacity of 2-3 trees, which improves air quality by helping to remove smog pollutants, one roof at a time,” according to the company.

According to Atlas, the combination of reflectivity, smog-reducing technology, and a lifetime warranty against black streaks and stains makes Pinnacle Sun one of the most unique asphalt shingles on the market.
