Owens Corning Releases Updated Colors, New Palette Hues

Shingle Color Image.jpg
October 21, 2022

Honoring the power of color to inspire and even transform a home’s exterior, Owens Corning is taking another bold stride in helping to position the roof as a design element by offering several new shingle colors in its TruDefinition® Duration® Shingle line.

In September of 2022, Owens Corning announced four new signature shingle colors and an updated color palette that removed outdated hues and extended popular regional colors into new areas of the country. The enhanced shingle color portfolio builds on Owens Corning’s legacy of leadership in color by offering a chic, modern shingle color palette to give homeowners the utmost ability to express their personal style on their home’s exterior.

Regardless of a roof’s slope or a home’s style, the roof offers an opportunity to make a statement and deliver the perfect finishing element to a home’s exterior. Color can add a bold or subtle accent to a home’s aesthetic, and homeowners want more roofing color options.

“Owens Corning is proud to be a leader with color conversation and explore how design and color continue to evolve in interesting and unexpected ways,” said Owens Corning Strategic Marketing Leader Sue Burkett. “Whether a homeowner’s style leans toward classic, contemporary, or some combination of styles, the roof provides an opportunity to add the perfect accent or make a bold and resounding statement.”

Streamlining Style

For Owens Corning it is not just about adding colors, but more importantly making sure customers have access to the right colors.

“While other manufacturers have recently been limiting the colors they offer, we know that homeowners care deeply about having the right color choices,” said Burkett. “To maintain a balanced approach in a year of tight supply, we’ve eliminated outdated colors across product lines. The net result is a streamlined, but more visually appealing shingle color portfolio that our distributors, contractors, and homeowners can feel good about.”

Four New Colors Debut in TruDefinition Duration Shingle Palette

Owens Corning is debuting four new shingle colors in its TruDefinition Duration palette: Midnight Plum, Peppercorn, Sand Castle, and Desert Rose. Designed to pair well with a wide range of exterior colors and home designs ranging from coastal cottage to modern farmhouse to a traditional brick home, the new shingle colors help leverage the home’s roof as a design asset.

“We really made an industry color statement when we added our patented Black Sable and, recently, our Bourbon Duration Designer colors,” she said. “This year we’ve stepped it up again with the introduction of Midnight Plum, a gorgeous shade of gray with rich purple undertones. This new color continues to showcase our leading-edge shingle color design.”

Resources to Support the Shingle Selection Process

Blending inspiration and technology, Owens Corning offers color resources including the Design EyeQ® Visualization Experience and design style boards meant to inspire homeowners as they make shingle color decisions. To serve a growing Latino community, bilingual marketing resources including print and downloadable brochures are also now available.

“We know that color has never been more important to homeowners,” said Burkett. “Releasing updated shingle palettes and beautiful new color options allows homeowners to get what they want and provides contractors with a great opportunity to upsell.”

Orders for new colors can be placed effective Jan. 2, 2023. For more information on the new shingle color options available in your area, click here.
