Western Specialty Contractors, Sika to Co-Host Free Webinar on Liquid Applied Roofing

WSC-Sika-Roof maintenance
February 17, 2022

ST. LOUIS — Did you know? A form of liquid roofing was first used in the early 1800s when natural residue from petroleum distillation, called bitumen, was combined with jute, straw, rag felt and other materials to waterproof roofs. It wasn’t until the early 20th century that liquid roof coatings started to be commercially manufactured and more widely used.

Today, with so many systems and high-performance coatings available, facility managers may have a difficult time knowing exactly what type of liquid applied roofing to use, and when and where to use it for the best results.

The building envelope experts at Western Specialty Contractors and Sika will discuss “The What, Why, How and When of Liquid Applied Roofing” during a free webinar on Feb. 23 at 1-2:30 p.m. CST. Participants may sign up online for the webinar at wsc.ck.page/roofing-webinar.

The online event will be moderated by Kourtney Graham, Western business development manager of special projects, with expert input from Western Senior Branch Manager Keegan Tune and Sika USA National Manager Sean Fraker. Sika is a leader in the development and production of systems and solutions for bonding, sealing, damping, reinforcing and protecting commercial construction.

At the webinar, participants will learn about:

  • Different types of liquid applied roofing
  • Why liquid applied roofing makes sense
  • Cost comparisons to traditional roofing
  • Roof coatings versus liquid roof systems
  • When to install liquid applied roofing.

“Liquid applied roofing has many benefits in relation to its cost, performance and ease of application,” said Tune. “Plus, it is well suited for most roof types, including pitched and flat, and can be applied over most traditional roofing materials. When applied correctly by an experienced specialty roofing contractor, liquid applied roofing can provide up to 25 years of solid performance.”

For more information about the free webinar, visit wsc.ck.page/roofing-webinar.
