In this latest RC Podcast Show episode, Cotney Attorneys & Consultants CEO Trent Cotney weighs in on the response from Malarkey Roofing Products receiving a record $2.1-million fine from the Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality for violating emissions standards during its manufacturing process. The violations were self-reported, and while the fine was substantial, Cotney said the company had the right response.

“They stepped up and took it seriously. And as we continue to head into the trend of environmentally friendly production and manufacturing, I would expect state and federal agencies are going to be honing in on these things, almost to the extreme,” he said.

The discussion also includes his reaction to reports that both Tesla’s Solar Roof deployments and roofing-related material shipments were down last quarter. The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association reported product shipments dropped by double-digits in all categories during the quarter.

Roofing contractors will also learn about Cotney's new service offering that will allow contractors to address legal needs and project expenses in on-demand fashion.

“Think of it as an umbrella, and under this umbrella, any problem your company has, we’ve got a solution,” Cotney said.
