Horch Roofing Partners with Good Shepherd Food Bank to Fight Hunger During Pandemic

Horch Roofing Food Donation
June 18, 2020

PORTLAND, Maine — Horch Roofing is inviting others to join them in bringing food security to the local community while making their homes more secure this summer. Horch Roofing, with locations in Warren and Westbrook, has set a goal of raising over $10,000 for Good Shepherd Food Bank.

Every year, Horch Roofing’s employees choose a charitable cause, and their Responsible Giving Committee works with local charities to honor that goal. With the COVID-19 pandemic highlighting an even greater need for food assistance in Maine, this year’s goal is to support organizations that work to end hunger.

To that end, Horch Roofing is partnering with the Good Shepherd Food Bank to support Maine friends and neighbors in need. For every residential asphalt or metal roofing contract signed in the months of June and July 2020, Horch Roofing will donate $200 to the Good Shepherd Food Bank. The goal is to raise a minimum of $10,000 for food assistance through Good Shepherd.

“Since starting Horch Roofing in 2003 we have focused on giving back to Maine communities,” said Horch President Peter Horch. “We believe strongly in working with local organizations to end hunger and with the need growing daily, we felt that Good Shepherd, with its reach across the state, was the best way to get food to where it is needed the most.”

Horch points out just how much of an impact that $200 can have. A dollar can buy up to four meals, meaning $200 can purchase up to 800 meals. It can buy enough food to sustain a child experiencing food insecurity for more than two months or provide nutritious pantry staples for five seniors experiencing hunger.

On a regular day, Good Shepherd Food Bank provides meals for 71,000 of our neighbors who would otherwise be hungry. As coronavirus has spread in Maine, that number has grown. So if customers need a new asphalt or metal roof, Horch Roofing will help them while fighting hunger in the community together.

Horch Roofing has been roofing Maine homes since 2003, providing metal roofing, asphalt shingle roofing, EPDM rubber roofing, and seamless gutters for both residential and commercial roofing projects. We offer free roof replacement estimates.
