SUNRISE, Fla. — The U.S. Dept. of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited Crown Roofing L.L.C. for exposing employees to fall hazards at a worksite in Sunrise, Fla.

The roofing contractor faces the maximum allowable penalty of $129,336.

OSHA cited the company for allowing employees to install roofing materials without the use of a fall protection system. OSHA initiated the inspection as part of the Regional Emphasis Program on Falls in Construction. OSHA has cited Crown Roofing 13 times since 2014 for similar fall hazards.

The company has 15 business days from receipt of the Oct. 23 citations and proposed penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA’s area director, or contest the findings before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
