The Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA) has produced a new short, step-by-step animated video, "Your Guide to Algae Discoloration", regarding roof algae for homeowners and building owners alike.

Many homes and steep-slope buildings have dark streaks or discoloration on their roofs, but it can be difficult for an owner to know what it is and what to do about it.

The two minute video gives a brief overview of dark algea streaks on the roof, and why they are there. It also discusses what algae discoloration is and the damage it can cause, as well as how it can be lightened, and most importantly, prevented. Now roofing contractors have a user-friendly video they can show or refer homeowners or property owners to if roof streaks are a concern.
