Product Focus: Fasteners

June 4, 2013

Low-Slope Fasteners • SFS intec

SFS intec Inc. offers its Dekfast fastening solutions for low-slope roofs. The Dekfast Hex and Phillips drives are available in #12 up to 8 inches, #14 up to 12 inches and #15 up to 28 inches in length, complemented by a variety of insulation and membrane plates. The isofast® system uses belted fasteners and plates for insulation and membrane attachment, providing increased productivity and ergonomics. In addition, the system allows users to save money and energy through the reduction of thermal bridging. SFS intec also offers specialty fasteners such as purlins, termination bars and anchors, TPR rivets, zinc nail-ins, Dekspikes and base-ply fasteners. For more information, visit www.sfsintec.biz.

Plating Process for Zinc Screws  • Raytec Manufacturing

Raytec Manufacturing has developed a new plating process for zinc screws, which protects against red rust for up to 200 hours. Compare to the standard commercial silver zinc plating, which according to ANSI/ASME standards provides only up to 24 hours of red rust protection in a controlled salt spray test. Customers can also upgrade to Raytec’s Rezist system for 1,000 hours of red rust protection. For more information, call 717-445-0510.

Structural Wood Screws • Simpson Strong-Tie

The Strong-Drive SDWC structural wood screw provides stud-to-bottom plate or stud-to-top plate connection, as well as fastening trusses and rafters to top plates. The fully threaded shank engages the entire length of the fastener providing a secure connection. The SDWC is tested in accordance with ICC-ES AC233 (screw) and AC13 (wall assembly) for uplift and lateral loads between wall plates and vertical wall framing. The SDWC screw is a time-saving and reliable option that installs easily and effectively without pre-drilling. For more information, visit www.strongtie.com.
