WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing (Center) is proud to welcome James R. Kirby, AIA as Vice President of Sustainability. Jim joins the Center after 16 years with the National Roofing Contractors Association serving in various roles, including Associate Executive Director of Technical Communications.

In his new role with the Center, Jim will continue to be a recognized voice in the field of rooftop solar though the Center PV Taskforce and broaden his focus to include whole building envelope strategies for energy efficiency and environmental management.

“It will be exciting to focus on rooftop solar and building envelope issues which directly affect energy efficiency of the built environment. And it will be an honor to continue to work with industry leaders of the highest caliber,” Kirby stated.

“The addition of Jim Kirby marks an important milestone for our organization as the Center strengthens its role as the voice for the roofing industry on environmental and energy issues,” said President Craig Silvertooth. “We are pleased Jim will continue to serve as an advocate for our industry on these important issues.”

Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies and a Master of Architecture-Structures Option from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also earned a Graduate Certificate of Sustainable Design and Construction from Boston Architectural College.
