OMG Roofing Products Acquires Sinch Technology

May 12, 2011
OMG, Inc., a manufacturer and supplier of fasteners and building products for commercial and residential construction applications has acquired the intellectual property rights for Sinch Technology from Senco Brands, Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio.

AGAWAM, Mass. – OMG, Inc., a manufacturer and supplier of fasteners and building products for commercial and residential construction applications has acquired the intellectual property rights for Sinch Technology from Senco Brands, Inc. of Cincinnati, Ohio. The announcement was made by Hubert McGovern, OMG president.

Sinch Technology makes induction heating practical with the world's first miniature high efficiency portable induction heating unit that can be safely used in a wide range of commercial applications, including installation of commercial roofing systems. This technology is at the heart of OMG’s innovative RhinoBond induction welding system used for installing TPO and PVC roof membranes.

“This acquisition is significant for OMG,” said Tom Wagner, senior vice president of business development, “and notably strengthens our position in the commercial roofing industry. In addition, owning this technology allows us to develop new applications in different market segments. It’s a great addition to our business portfolio.”

Patented Sinch Technology is based on innovative micro-processing capabilities to provide a revolutionary bonding technology platform that makes difficult fastening jobs simple, safe, and convenient. Intelligent bonding stems from Sinch Technology's ability to read the distance to a bond-target and calibrate the specific energy needed to achieve precise heating. A safe electromagnetic field remotely activates target adhesives through non-metallic materials for a strong bond on demand. In addition to commercial roofing applications, Sinch Technology is currently used for flooring and rigid laminate installation, product assembly and heat treating among others.

OMG Roofing Products introduced its RhinoBond technology in 2008 after nearly of decade of product development and refinement. Today, RhinoBond technology is approved by nearly every major commercial roof system manufacturer, and represents one of the fastest growing application methods in the commercial roofing industry.

“We are very excited about this acquisition,” said Josh Kelly, vice president and general manager of OMG Roofing Products. “Owning the patents and intellectual property for Sinch provides us with complete control of this advanced technology, which we believe will open many doors for OMG in the future.”
