Garland Recognized as Employee-Centered Anchor of Regional Economy
The Garland Company, Inc., manufacturer and distributor of high-performance solutions for the building envelope, recently announced it has received three regional awards in 2009, recognizing its people-first culture and honoring its contributions to the economy of Northeast Ohio, where its corporate headquarters is based.

• The NEO Success Award, sponsored by Inside Business magazine, acknowledges corporate growth in terms of revenue and employment opportunities over three consecutive years. This is Garland’s second year winning this award.
• The Leading EDGE award, sponsored annually by Crain’s Cleveland Business, honors middle-market companies in Northeastern Ohio. In order to qualify, a company’s annual sales revenue must be no greater than $750 million. In addition, companies must sell some of their goods or services outside the immediate region. The contest uses its own unique metric for tracking and measuring “value” as it pertains not only to a company’s bottom line, but also to the well-being of the community. This is Garland’s third year winning this coveted award.
• Every year, the Employers Resource Council (ERC) identifies the top 99 places to work in Northeast Ohio. This year, Garland was one of only five regional employers honored with the NorthCoast 99 Legacy Award, which is reserved for organizations that have won the contest for ten years. As a NorthCoast 99-award-winning company, Garland was evaluated on a number of employee-focused criteria, including compensation and benefits, health and safety, training and education, diversity, communication, and community service and involvement.
