JOPLIN, Mo. - TAMKO Roofing Products Inc. changed its name to TAMKO Building Products Inc., effective June 1. The new name is designed to more accurately reflect the products and services the corporation provides.
JOPLIN, Mo. - TAMKO Roofing Products Inc. changed its name to TAMKO Building Products Inc., effective June 1. The new name is designed to more accurately reflect the products and services the corporation provides. The letters TAMKO stand for Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma, the company's original trade area when founded in 1944. The company's trade area now includes all 50 states and a number of foreign countries.
"As we have grown and expanded the kinds of products we manufacture, the name TAMKO Roofing Products Inc. really doesn't adequately describe who we are or what we do," said the company's president and chief executive officer, David C. Humphreys. "For our first 50 years, from 1944 to 1994, we were TAMKO Asphalt Products. In 1994, we changed it to TAMKO Roofing Products, to better reflect a focus on roofing and not just asphalt roofing."
Humphreys added, "Though roofing will continue to be an important core business, as it always has been, the TAMKO Building Products name provides a proper home for our other product lines, and better communicates who we are to our customers, suppliers, employees and the communities in which we operate."
