CHICAGO - The Tile Roofing Institute (TRI) will debut the industry's first installer training and certification program in April in conjunction with its Industry Forum in Scottsdale, Ariz. The program is designed to expand contractor knowledge of best installation practices, and raise awareness of tile roofing among contractors across the country. The day-and-a-half of training will precede TRI's bi-annual Industry Forum, a two-day event that offers tile-roofing professionals industry updates, professional development programs, networking opportunities, as well as a product showcase.

The new certification program is based on TRI's Concrete and Clay Roof Tile Installation Manual for Moderate Climate Regions, a guide that is co-sponsored by the Western States Roofing Contractors Association and recognized by the International Code Council. The program is open to roofing contractors, forepersons, estimators, owners, and manufacturer sales and marketing professionals.

After the program's initial launch in Scottsdale, subsequent sessions will be held in other cities in the western United States. More training programs will eventually roll out across the country.
