The National Roofing Contractors Association has offered to work with the Pentagon to repair and replace its roof system.

In response to the tragedies that occurred Sept. 11, the National Roofing Contractors Association has offered to work with the Pentagon to repair and replace its roof system. The project involves rebuilding the part of the structure that was damaged by the terrorist attack and repairing a significant portion of the roof system that was damaged by fire. Rebuilding the entire structure will be a long and involved process. NRCA’s efforts will focus on the areas needing immediate repair to enable Pentagon workers to reoccupy their offices.

About 12 NRCA-member roofing supply companies are donating materials for the roofing work. The repair and replacement of the existing roof system is expected to take about six months to complete. NRCA-member roofing contractors also have been asked to donate labor to the project, and several have already volunteered. Members who cannot donate labor will be asked for cash contributions to offset other project costs. This effort is on top of the more that $210,000 members donated to the Red Cross.
