The Midwest Roofing Contractors Association held its 51st Annual Convention and Trade Show, September 7-8, 2000, in Madison, Wis.

The Midwest Roofing Contractors Association held its 51st Annual Convention and Trade Show, September 7-8, 2000, at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in Madison, Wis.

Trade show floor activity included prize giveaways, a silent auction in benefit of the MRCA Foundation and artisan demonstrations on the installation of slate, tile and cedar-shake roofing systems. There was also educational programming on a wide variety of technical and business management issues. Speakers included former Wisconsin Governor Lee Sherman Dreyfus, author Richard Hadden, technical advisor Dr. Rene Dupuis, and many nationally renowned experts in specific roofing applications.

The MRCA’s most coveted award, the James Q. McCawley Award, was given this year to Glenn Langer of Langer Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc., Milwaukee, Wis. The award recognizes outstanding service to the roofing industry. Additionally, new officers and directors for the association were elected at the convention. This year’s MRCA Foundation scholarship winners were also recognized.
