Texas Dream Home Features New DaVinci Multi-Width Slate Roof
Marking its 15-year partnership with DaVinci Roofscapes, Absolute Construction completes a complex reroofing project that showcases premium craftsmanship and design detail

Located in Flower Mound, Texas, the 6,000-sq.-ft. French Colonial style home has just received a new DaVinci Multi-Width Slate composite roof in Slate Black installed in a staggered pattern by AbsoluteConstruction.

From building scaffolding to fit precisely around the house, to all the intricate flashing details needed surrounding the cast stone dormers and stucco receivers, to recreating the half-round copper vents, every detail about this house was artfully handled.
When Absolute Construction set out to reroof Donald and Susanne Gilmore’s 6,000-sq.-ft. French Colonial home in Flower Mound, Texas, the project became more than a renovation; it became a milestone. Chosen as the company’s “15-Year DaVinci Anniversary Home,” the reroofing effort highlights Absolute’s craftsmanship, coordination, and commitment to excellence. The result: a stunning roof in DaVinci Multi-Width Slate Black, installed in a staggered pattern to enhance the home’s European-inspired architecture and long-term performance.
“From start to finish, this project required a good deal of planning, coordination, and craftsmanship,” according to Connor Wood, director of the specialty roofing division for Absolute Construction out of Plano, Texas. “From building scaffolding to fit exactly around the house, to all the intricate flashing details needed surrounding the cast stone dormers and stucco receivers, to recreating the half-round copper vents, every detail about this house was artfully handled. Reroofing this home correctly, and adding details that would last as long as the DaVinci roof, took lots of planning and expertise.”
For the month-long project, the skilled team at Absolute Construction worked together to create the showpiece home.
“This crew went above and beyond to accommodate our needs while making the construction period very easy on us,” said homeowner Donald Gilmore. “They worked in harmony with mutual respect, showed their professionalism every day and produced great results. It’s really an honor for our home to be showcased as the ‘15-Year DaVinci Anniversary Home’ for Absolute Construction because I can’t imagine one thing they could have done better on this job!”
Over the past 15 years, Absolute Construction has completed more than 150 residential projects featuring composite roofing from DaVinci® Roofscapes. The product’s Class A fire rating, Class 4 impact resistance, and ability to withstand high winds and severe weather have made it a consistent choice for reroofing projects across the region.
According to Connor Wood, director of the specialty roofing division at Absolute Construction, homeowners are increasingly seeking longer-lasting roofing materials as insurance coverage for wind and hail damage becomes more restrictive. He notes that many customers have reported insurance premium reductions after switching to DaVinci composite roofs. The Gilmore residence, for example, received a 25% discount on its annual homeowner insurance premium following installation of the new roof.
For the Gilmores, the decision to change to a DaVinci roof came for a variety of reasons. One was the lightweight nature of the composite tiles. While the couple wanted the look of real slate, they didn’t wish to reframe their house to support the weight of the heavy tiles. Nor were they interested in the costly budget needed for a natural slate roofing system.
"The impact rating and durability of the composite product made a big impression on us along with the warranty,” said Donald Gilmore. “However, the realistic appearance of the lightweight synthetic slate was also important. It’s completely appropriate for our home’s style. The black slate tiles look great with our white stucco siding and the real cast stone around our windows."
