Sometimes, the most iconic characters have no speaking part at all, particularly when it comes to the fright an old roof can cast against an ominous sky in a scary movie.

In honor of Halloween, Roofing Contractor has created a quiz to test your knowledge of iconic roofs in horror films. We've provided images up top but have kept the identities secret (the answer key is at the bottom). Test your knowledge based on the questions below.

We suspect you'll get 100%, but worry not if you miss one or more; the goblins of celluloid magic will give you a pass.

Let’s see how big a horror fan you are...

1. The Gothic-Victorian mash-up of the Marsten House in this movie will make your blood run cold, which may not please the house guest. What movie is this home from?
Salem's Lot
House on Haunted Hill
2. This colonial in the L.A. Valley was more than just the home of the Freeling family: it was a gateway to the 'other side.' "They're back!" What movie is this?
Poltergeist
The House of Usher
3. The 1980s gave rise to the slasher genre, and Nancy Thompson's home in this film is far from a safe place to hide. Which film is it?
Rosewood Lane
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Arlington Road
Twenty-one Jump Street
Reservation Road
4. The silhouette of this roof is enough to make the sanest person go crazy, which is what poor Norman is suffering from. What movie is this?
Hellraiser
Psycho
5. The lid on this Dutch Colonial Revival is characterized by its distinctive gambrel roof, which has a steeper pitch on the lower slope and a shallower pitch on the upper slope. What film is this?
Cujo
The Children of the Corn
The Amityville Horror
The Shining

Thank you. You passed!
Sorry, you did not pass. Please try again.
