The April cover story of Roofing Contractor featured the stories of four companies that have made an impact in their local markets, increased the profile of their businesses and helped the environment at the same time by recycling asphalt shingles. With a little luck, we were able to get four contractors from various parts of the country in the same room, and it was enlightening to hear them share their insights and experiences at what we dubbed the first Recycling Round Table. We held the event the Wigwam Resort in Phoenix in conjunction with our 2013 Best of Success conference, and participants included Michael Olen, president of O’Lyn Roofing, Norwood, Mass.; Joel Beattie, owner of Chase Construction North West Inc., Edgewood, Wash.; Roger Hankins, president of Hankins Homescapes, Lansing, Mich.; and TJ Elbert, owner of Elbert Construction, Noblesville, Ind.

Recycling is one of those true win-win stories, and we’d like to invite others to share their struggles and successes with recycling at another Recycling Round Table this fall. If you are a residential and/or commercial contractor who has a recycling message to share, drop me a line at kingc@bnpmedia.com. We’d love to share your story with others in the industry.
