The Carlisle PRO Academy is a training program for spray foam professionals where participants will sharpen installation techniques and gain valuable spray foam knowledge.

September 13, 2023

Carlisle Spray Foam Insulation, a large player within the polyurethane spray foam insulation products space in North America, has rolled out Carlisle PRO Academy, a comprehensive training, education and certification program for spray foam professionals.

In a news release, CSFI states the program was developed in direct response to contractor feedback. Carlisle PRO Academy participants can become certified applicators by completing a series of online learning modules and an in-field evaluation. Spray foam professionals looking to earn an advanced certification can attend a three-day intensive training at a state-of-the-art training facility at Carlisle's Training Center in Carlisle, Pa.

A multidisciplinary training program, Carlisle PRO Academy participants take their first step towards becoming certified Carlisle PRO Applicators by successfully completing eight online learning modules and passing a final course exam. To reduce downtime spent out of the field and support different learning styles, participants can take the course and test at their own speed via a phone, tablet or computer. The online applicator training can also be conducted in person upon request.

Carlisle PRO Academy modules explore situational awareness, concentrating on the impact different field conditions have on spray foam equipment and how to overcome those challenges on the job. After passing the online final exam, a CSFI technician will go on-location to conduct a spray evaluation, assessing participants' spray techniques and ensuring they know how to operate their equipment in the field.

To take their skill set to the next level, Carlisle PRO Academy participants have the opportunity to enroll in a hands-on training program at a brand new facility in Carlisle, Pa. Part classroom and part fully enclosed spray booth; the high-tech facility has the ability to recreate different climates and job site conditions, making it possible for participants to put their education to the test in a real-world setting. The facility is the backdrop for advanced mechanics and installer training, with in-depth lessons on how to maintain, troubleshoot and rebuild spray equipment, chemistry, building science, and personal and jobsite safety.

Upon completion of the three-day intensive, participants will earn a Carlisle PRO Advanced Applicator certification. Underscoring CSFI's commitment to the safety of the installer and the quality of their work, Carlisle PRO Academy is offered free of charge.

"Carlisle PRO Academy is a first-of-its-kind training program — it is going to set a high standard of required training in an industry that we sometimes refer to as the Wild West," said Steven Fries, tech services wall spray foam manager, CSFI. "Each component of this program was carefully designed with the applicator in mind; we want them to walk away with the confidence and know-how to perform their job efficiently and effectively. By supporting the professional development of our customers, we are elevating the industry as a whole — it's a win-win."
