National Women in Roofing (NWIR), a national organization focused on the empowerment of women within the roofing industry, announces its 2017 International Roofing Expo (IRE) schedule. NWIR strives to provide an opportunity for women and men, new and established, to find ongoing success working in the roofing industry.
NWIR is looking forward to having a significant presence at IRE. Activities will include networking, mentoring and educational opportunities. The first event will be a Networking Reception and Mentoring Event on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. With a special guest speaker, women will have the opportunity to learn by sharing experiences in the roofing industry focusing on a variety of topics.
NWIR will also be providing an education session on Wednesday, March 1, 2016 7:45 a.m.- 9:15a.m., led by Jennifer Stone of Nations Roof and Heidi J. Ellsworth of HJE Consulting. Utilizing a panel format, the topic of “Successful Career Path Case Studies for Women in Roofing” will allow women to learn about various career paths in the roofing industry. With a highly interactive conversational format, the class will provide strong insights for career path strategies.
During the IRE tradeshow, NWIR will have a booth where women and men can meet, network and discuss upcoming events and initiatives.
Membership and sponsorship opportunities along with local council opportunities will be highlighted at the booth. Prior to the tradeshow, NWIR will also be active in helping with the 8th Annual Community Service Day and the NRCA ROOFPAC Golf Tournament.
NWIR has created a strong foundation of bylaws, processes and procedures along with association management that empowers the following goals:
• Mentoring – Mentor and empower women in the roofing industry towards excellence in their chosen career
• Education – Create high-quality learning programs and experiences for men and women to build successful businesses and careers for both genders
• Networking – Provide opportunities to meet women in the roofing industry, creating strong, long-lasting networks
• Recruiting – Reach beyond traditional recruitment to enable and promote careers in the roofing industry to current and future workers
With local Councils forming and activity across the country, NWIR is closing in on 250 members and 10 founding sponsors. All women and men are invited to participate in this exciting new organization. For more information, visit www.nationalwomeninroofing.com.

“We love seeing your photos of women working in the roofing industry; in the boardroom, on the rooftop, or at a meeting or conference,” said NWIR Chairwoman Heidi Ellsworth.
Please send high resolution pics to info@nationalwomeninroofing.com and don’t forget to include details about who’s featured in the photo.
