BELOIT, Wis. — Pat Keeney and Robert Amar, two longtime associates at building products distributor ABC Supply Co., Inc., were recently named recipients of the 2016 Ken Hendricks Award. They were both honored at ABC Supply’s annual Founders’ Celebration event in June at the company’s National Support Center in Beloit, Wis.

 

The award, named after the company’s co-founder, was created to honor his memory and highlights the values that he and Chairman Diane Hendricks championed to drive ABC Supply and its associates since its establishment in 1982: Respect, Opportunity, Work Hard—Have Fun, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Family, Give Back and American Pride.

 

Keeney has dedicated more than 30 years to ABC Supply, joining the company when it acquired the South Dakota business Keeney worked for in 1984. He spent the early part of his ABC Supply career working closely with Ken Hendricks to start new locations and turn around the ones that needed a little extra help. In 1994, Keeney and his wife moved to the Minneapolis area and, in the ensuing years, he started many of the ABC Supply locations that are in business there today. He currently manages the branch in Coon Rapids, Minn. Keeney is recognized by the company as someone who takes a sincere interest in his customers and leads associates so that they, too, can be successful. He has trained numerous associates who have gone on to become managers. 

 

Amar established a strong relationship with Ken Hendricks early in his career and was immediately inspired by Ken’s passion for the company. He started working for the ABC Supply in 1992 as a warehouse, inside sales and accounting associate at the company’s location in Harlingen, Texas. He went on to manage the Harlingen and Corpus Christi locations before becoming manager of the Houston branch in 2001, where he remains today. Amar is revered throughout the company for his unique vision, mentoring and dedication to his family. He was one of the first managers to develop low-slope commercial roofing at ABC Supply and became a leader in the Houston district. Amar has trained numerous associates who have gone on to become successful managers and has been an active coach for youth in the community.

 

ABC Supply President and CEO Keith Rozolis shared that Amar and Keeney are being recognized “for their continued achievements in going above and beyond to serve their branches and live the ABC Supply values every day.”

 

“Their spirit and determination exemplify the character that Ken had in mind when he founded our company,” Rozolis said. “Pat and Robert’s driven approach to both their professional and personal lives is contagious to those around them and they continue to make ABC Supply a better place.”
