GCP Applied Technologies Unveils Enhancements to Roofing Underlayment Portfolio

March 24, 2016
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – GCP Applied Technologies Inc., formerly Grace Construction Products, is pleased to announce breakthrough enhancements to their leading self-adhered roofing underlayment portfolio.

The exposure limits of Grace Ice & Water Shield® and Grace Ultra™ have been extended. The new exposure limits provide contractors with added flexibility to accommodate the unpredictable construction schedules such as those common to long lead time metal and tile roof coverings. Both products have been formulated and tested to be UV and weather stable for these extended exposure times, ensuring the building stays safe and dry during long and unpredictable construction cycles.

“We are excited that one of our first initiatives as GCP Applied Technologies is to unveil industry-leading enhancements to our roofing underlayments portfolio, products that have been trusted for more than 35 years,” said Larry Shapiro, Business Director, Residential Building Materials. “The upgrade is the first of many exciting improvements that we have planned. The brand you know and trust is more focused than ever on its customers, and the new company structure will allow us to introduce new products and technologies at a rapid pace.”

The original, fully-adhered roofing underlayment, Grace Ice & Water Shield®, now has an extended exposure limit of 90 days. For more than 35 years, Grace Ice & Water Shield® has been the brand that roofing contractors and architects trust most to specify and install on marquee projects around the world. The underlayment’s proprietary and time-tested design provides industry leading protection against wind-driven rain and ice dams because it adheres aggressively to the roof deck, easily forms water-tight overlaps, and seals around roofing fasteners.

Grace Ultra™ roofing underlayment is designed to protect sloped roofs from leaks in applications where the membrane must withstand the highest in-service temperatures for extended periods of time. Now with an extended exposure time of 120 days, Grace Ultra’s unique butyl adhesive formulation offers premium adhesion to the roof deck, high quality laps, superior seal around roofing fasteners, and outstanding high temperature stability.

In addition to GCP Applied Technologies’ roofing underlayments portfolio, the company provides a full line of residential building materials to protect homes, including Vycor® flashing tapes, and Vycor® enV-S™, a fully-adhered, vapor permeable weather resistive barrier. From the basement and foundation to the windows, doors and roof, contractors that turn to GCP Applied Technologies’ products don’t just build homes, they also protect them.
