Owens Corning, Toledo, Ohio, has developed two new acoustical insulation products — SelectSound Black Acoustic Blanket and SelectSound Black Acoustic Board — designed to speed installation and improve sound quality in multiplex theaters and other performing arts centers. The addition of black dye to the fiberglass core means that if the black surface mat is damaged, the new darker core will help maintain the desired low visibility and eliminate the need for replacement. Additionally, having an all-black core can speed installation by eliminating the need to tape or paint seams between the units.
