SESCO Expands Into Roof Coatings Under New Ownership

Specified Equipment Systems Co., or SESCO, has been acquired by an investment group and will operate as SESCO Roofing Products LLC as the company expands its presence in commercial roof restoration. The New Albany, Ind.-based company manufactures roofing materials and equipment and mines aggregate products used in roof coating applications.

Under its new ownership team, SESCO plans to broaden its product portfolio while continuing to supply its established roofing granules and equipment. The expansion includes a newly launched line of silicone and acrylic roof coatings, along with mastics, spray foam and accessories.

SESCO said the broader offering is intended to give contractors, distributors, specifiers and building owners a more complete source for roof restoration and maintenance materials.

"This is an exciting new chapter for SESCO," said Matt Clarke, vice president of SESCO Roofing Products, adding that the company plans to build on its existing history while expanding its capabilities as a roof coatings manufacturer.

Former CEO Chris Lockwood said the sale will allow the SESCO brand and the Lockwood family's legacy to continue after 39 years in business.

SESCO got its start developing portable equipment for roof installation and spot repairs, building the business around a contractor-first approach. The company began mining roofing granules in 1990, initially with its Rainbow and Buff products, before expanding into roof repair products in 2008 and adding Snow White granules in 2012 as demand increased for highly reflective roofing systems. In 2026, the SESCO name and legacy continued with an expanded lineup of roof coatings and accessories, building on nearly four decades of serving roofing contractors.
