Georgia-Pacific announced Monday that David Neal, currently president of gypsum, will become the company's executive vice president of building products, effective early March.

In this role, Neal will be responsible for one of the world's leading building products manufacturers.

Georgia-Pacific said Neal will succeed Andy Konieczka, who will retire in early March after a long career with Georgia-Pacific and its parent company, Koch, Inc.

"David has been recognized as a transformative leader at Georgia-Pacific," said Christian Fischer, Georgia-Pacific's president and chief executive officer. "Since joining the organization, he has held several key positions within the Georgia-Pacific gypsum business, all leading to his current role as president.”

Neal, who earned a bachelor of science degree from Vanderbilt University, joined the company in 1997 as a quality resource manager and held positions of increasing responsibility, from plant manager to eventually president of the gypsum business.

“[David] recently spearheaded a $300 million expansion in Sweetwater, Texas, which catapulted the Georgia-Pacific gypsum business and helped them achieve record profits in 2024,” Fischer added. “We are confident in his ability to continue driving profitable transformation within the building products business."

Beyond his professional achievements, Neal is actively engaged in the metro Atlanta community as a member of Leadership Atlanta, the External Advisory Board for the College of Engineering at Georgia Tech, the High Museum of Art board of directors, and a regular Atlanta Habitat for Humanity volunteer.
