MRCA Associate Managing Director Bob Pope received the prestigious James Q. McCawley Award during the MRCA’s 74th Annual Conference, which kicked off on Oct. 22 in St. Paul, Minn.; 2023 winner Greg Bloom of Beacon Building Products presented the honor.

After 42 years in the industry, Greg Bloom, vice president of national account for Beacon, is still having a ball, and invites distributors to help bring the next generation of professionals into the fold.

The Roofing Alliance announced its 2024-2025 Board of Trustees: Reed Gooding of GSM Roofing is now president and Greg Hudson of Georgia-Pacific Gypsum is vice president; Beacon’s Greg Bloom is the immediate past president.  

Last week, the National Roofing Contractors Association convened its annual "Roofing Day" in Washington, D.C., uniting industry stakeholders for advocacy. With record-breaking attendance and meetings, the focus was on pressing policies impacting the $50.6 billion domestic roofing market. 

The 2024 Roofing Alliance Student Competition in Las Vegas, marking its 10th year as part of the International Roofing Expo, saw five teams competing to win the bid for roofing the paddock building at Grand Prix Plaza in downtown Las Vegas.  

Roofing Contractor was present to catch the moment when this year's James Q. McCawley Award recipient realized the award was being presented to him.

The Roofing Alliance, the philanthropic and educational arm of the National Roofing Contractors Association, has approved funding for a three-year research project with Clemson University to focus on "Sustainability & Resiliency Efforts for the Roofing Industry."
