The International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC), formerly known as RCI Inc., is partnering with the National Research Council of Canada (NRCC) for a unique event next fall.

The 2020 International Conference on Building Envelope Systems and Technologies (ICBEST) will take place from Aug. 31-Sept. 2, 2020, at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia. The conference will provide a global forum for the exchange of information and discussion of recent developments in, and applications of, building envelope engineering. ICBEST’s scope is to bring together engineers, architects, scientists, and practitioners with a common interest to promote new knowledge and practice of building envelope systems and technologies.

The organization is currently accepting abstracts for presentations through Nov. 22. Abstracts should be at least 200 words and filled out online at for consideration.

IIBEC formed in 1983 as an international association of professional consultants, architects, and engineers who specialize in the specification and design of roofing, waterproofing, and exterior walls. Its consultant members adhere to a strict code of ethics that offers unprejudiced service without affiliation with any product or manufacturer. IIBEC’s 3600 members boast an international constituency residing across the United States and Canada, as well as Australia, the West Indies, Europe, and Asia.

The National Research Council of Canada is the primary national research and technology organization supported by the Canadian government. The NRCC’s intent is to shorten the gap between early stage research and development and commercialization.The NRCC partners with Canadian industry to take research from the lab to the marketplace.
