VELUX has launched a national tour featuring a 340-square-foot mobile tiny home designed to show homeowners how skylights and tubular daylighting can change residential spaces.

The VELUX Mobile Skylight Experience will travel to home shows, retailer events and other locations across the U.S., allowing visitors to interact with skylights and see applications for daylighting, ventilation and interior spaces where conventional windows may not be practical.

For roofing contractors, the tour represents another effort by the skylight manufacturer to build homeowner awareness of daylighting products that can be incorporated into new roofs and remodeling projects.

“The dramatic transformation skylights create is difficult to fully appreciate until you experience it firsthand,” said Stephan Moyon, president of VELUX North America. “Whether you're building, remodeling, or simply gathering ideas, the VELUX Mobile Skylight Experience shows how skylights can be a solution to some of the most common challenges inside the home.”

Tiny House Basics built the mobile display, with designer and television host Emily Henderson overseeing its interior design.

Individual rooms demonstrate different skylight applications. The kitchen features venting skylights intended to remove heat, humidity and cooking odors, while the bathroom incorporates VELUX Sun Tunnels to bring daylight into spaces where conventional windows or skylights may not be practical. Other areas demonstrate how overhead daylight can affect living spaces and bedrooms.

The tour follows the opening of VELUX's first North American Experience Center as the company expands its consumer education efforts.

The Mobile Skylight Experience is scheduled to appear at the Fresno Fall Home Show + Tiny House Expo in Fresno, Calif., Nov. 6-8. VELUX said additional tour stops will be announced.
