Home Depot Sales Rise 5.7% as Retailer Expands Express Delivery Nationwide
The home improvement company reported $47.9 billion in second-quarter sales while rolling out three-hour delivery aimed at Pro and DIY customers

The Home Depot reported second-quarter results that topped Wall Street expectations while announcing a nationwide expansion of its Express Delivery service, giving contractors and other customers access to thousands of products in three hours or less.
The Atlanta-based home improvement retailer reported sales of $47.9 billion for the second quarter of fiscal 2026, an increase of $2.6 billion, or 5.7%, compared with the same period last year. Comparable sales increased 1.7% overall and 1.3% in the U.S. Net earnings totaled $4.8 billion, or $4.79 per diluted share, compared with $4.6 billion, or $4.58 per share, during the second quarter of fiscal 2025. Adjusted diluted earnings per share rose to $4.92 from $4.68.
Chief Financial Officer Richard McPhail said the retailer saw broad-based demand as customers continued to undertake smaller projects. The company also reaffirmed its fiscal 2026 outlook, which calls for total sales growth of approximately 2.5% to 4.5% and comparable sales ranging from flat to 2% growth.
Home Depot expects to open approximately 15 new stores during the year and projects diluted earnings per share to range from approximately flat to 4% growth compared with fiscal 2025. At the end of the second quarter, Home Depot operated 2,364 retail stores and more than 1,340 SRS locations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico, with more than 470,000 employees.

Home Depot is seeing benefits from faster fulfillment. EVP of Merchandising Billy Bastek said the company's faster delivery speeds are resonating with customers and driving greater engagement.
Alongside the earnings announcement, Home Depot said it is rolling out Express Delivery nationwide, using more than 2,000 U.S. stores as neighborhood fulfillment hubs. Jordan Broggi, executive vice president of Interconnected Retail, said the service is intended to help customers get products when and where they need them, including Pros who run short on supplies during time-sensitive jobs.
For a flat fee and without requiring a subscription or membership, the service provides delivery in three hours or less on thousands of products, including plumbing, electrical, hardware, paint, tools and other project supplies.
Customers can determine whether an item is eligible for Express Delivery on product pages and at checkout. The retailer is positioning the service for both do-it-yourself customers and professional contractors who need materials quickly at a home or job site. The retailer also offers free same-day delivery on orders of $25 or more placed by 4 p.m. and said more than 65% of its in-stock parcel products can currently be delivered the same or next day. Approximately 55% of in-stock big and bulky orders can be delivered within two days.
The retailer said its investments in faster fulfillment are helping drive customer engagement. Pro sales also posted positive comparable sales during the quarter and outperformed DIY.
"We are winning with the pros, " said Senior Executive Vice President Ann-Marie Campbell during the earnings call.
