JLG Acquires Canvas Robotics Technology to Advance Jobsite Automation
Access equipment manufacturer adds construction robotics capabilities to expand autonomy and productivity on future job sites.

JLG Industries Inc., a Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of access equipment, announced it has acquired the core technology developed by Canvas, a San Francisco-based construction robotics company best known for pioneering robotic solutions for interior construction applications. The acquisition supports JLG’s long-term strategy to move beyond simply enabling work at height to actively executing tasks through autonomous, connected equipment.
The companies’ relationship dates back six years, when Canvas selected a JLG platform to develop its robotic system. Since then, the technology has evolved to automate repetitive tasks and deliver consistent, high-quality results, helping contractors address labor challenges while improving safety and productivity on job sites.
Canvas is widely recognized for developing the world’s first drywall finishing robot, which combines robotic precision with skilled labor to streamline interior finishing workflows, reduce rework, and lessen physical strain on workers. Under JLG, the technology will be used to advance robotic end-effectors and autonomy that can be paired with JLG access equipment across a range of interior construction applications.
JLG leaders say the investment strengthens the company’s technology roadmap and accelerates development of practical automation solutions designed to help crews do more with the equipment they already rely on, shaping the future of connected, intelligent job sites.
